Enhanced propanol gas sensing performance of p-type NiO gas sensor induced by exceptionally large surface area and crystallinity

Teboho P. Mokoena et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of large surface area and crystallinity of p-type NiO nanostructures on propanol sensing characteristics. Different preparation methods were compared, and the NiO-based sensor derived from urea precursor exhibited significantly improved sensing response, higher sensitivity, ultra-low theoretical detection limit, and excellent selectivity towards propanol vapour. The high sensitivity and selectivity of NiO-based sensors for propanol detection show promising potential.

The detection of ethanol vapors based on a p-type gas sensor fabricated from heterojunction MoS2-NiCo2O4

Ali Akhtar et al.

Summary: In this study, hydrothermally synthesized nanocomposites were used as sensors to detect volatile organic compounds. The structure and morphology of the materials were identified through various characterization methods, and different sensors were designed to test their sensing performance to various VOCs. Among them, one sensor (MNCO-6) showed the highest response to ethanol, while the response to other VOCs was insignificant.

TiO2 Nanowires for Humidity-Stable Gas Sensors for Toluene and Xylene

Zamaswazi P. Tshabalala et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates temperature-dependent selectivity and stability towards CO, C7H8, and C8H10 by synthesizing various TiO2 nanostructures, with TiO2 nanowires exhibiting dual-selectivity functionality towards C7H8 and C8H10, as well as higher surface area and interconnected pore distribution compared to TiO2 nanoparticles. The X-ray diffraction patterns confirmed the tetragonal structure of anatase TiO2, while surface studies revealed different morphologies with TiO2 nanowires showing the highest concentration of oxygen vacancies and Ti3+ which influenced its dual-selectivity functionality.
