This paper demonstrates the remarkable reverse shape memory effect of Cu-(12-14)Mn-20Ga-0.5Mo shape memory alloys, in which the dimension can recover to the state before deformation between 430 K and 550 K. The reverse shape memory effect is attributed to the phase transformation from residual austenite (L21) to martensite (2H). As the temperature increases from 550 K to 680 K, the shape memory effect appears and the dimension increases to the state before deformation. Furthermore, the reverse shape memory effect is gradually enhanced with the increase of Mn content, and the Cu-14Mn-20Ga-0.5Mo alloy exhibits the maximum reverse shape memory effect of 1.63%.
In this paper, a remarkable reverse shape memory effect of the Cu-(12-14)Mn-20Ga-0.5Mo shape memory alloys is demonstrated, in which the dimension could move toward the deformed state between 430 K and 550 K. The reverse shape memory effect results from the phase transformation of the residual austenite (L21) -> martensite (2H). When raising the temperature from 550 K to 680 K, the shape memory effect appears, and the dimension increases to the state before deformation. Moreover, the reverse shape memory effect is gradually boosted with the enhancement of Mn content, and the Cu-14Mn-20Ga-0.5Mo alloy has the maximum reverse shape memory effect of 1.63%.
