Judging the sources of inferior groundwater quality and health risk problems through intake of groundwater nitrate and fluoride from a rural part of Telangana, India

Sakram Gugulothu et al.

Summary: The evaluation of groundwater quality in rural Telangana, India revealed high levels of nitrate and fluoride contamination, posing health hazards for adults and children. Strategic measures such as safe drinking water and contamination removal techniques are recommended to improve human health and protect groundwater resources.

Tourmaline as a recorder of the magmatic-hydrothermal evolution in the formation of pegmatite: In-situ elemental and boron isotopic compositions of tourmaline from the Qinghe pegmatite, Chinese Altay orogen

Beiqi Zheng et al.

Summary: This study conducted elemental and boron isotope analyses on tourmalines from a pegmatite dyke in the Altay orogen. The results indicate that the pegmatite originated from direct melting of metapelitic rocks, with some fluid exsolution and boron fractionation during magmatic evolution.

Estimation of groundwater pollution levels and specific ionic sources in the groundwater, using a comprehensive approach of geochemical ratios, pollution index of groundwater, unmix model and land use/land cover - A case study

N. Subba Rao et al.

Summary: This study evaluated groundwater pollution and chemistry in a rural area of Telangana, India. The findings suggest that groundwater quality from geogenic sources is the primary factor, outweighing the impact of anthropogenic sources. Land use/land cover observations supported the assessment of pollution levels and the contribution of specific ionic sources.

Hydrochemical Characteristics and Quality Assessment of Groundwater under the Impact of Seawater Intrusion and Anthropogenic Activity in the Coastal Areas of Zhejiang and Fujian Provinces, China

Tengfei Fu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of seawater intrusion and anthropogenic activity on coastal groundwater in Zhejiang and Fujian provinces in China. The results show that seawater intrusion is the main cause of increasing salinity in Zhejiang Province, while water-rock interactions play a role in Fujian Province. The study also reveals that nitrate and fluoride indicators are influenced by anthropogenic activity and seawater intrusion. The water quality index shows that coastal groundwater in Fujian Province is better than in Zhejiang Province.

Understanding the factors contributing to groundwater salinity in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, India

N. Subba Rao et al.

Summary: This study focused on understanding the factors responsible for groundwater salinity in a coastal region in India. The results showed that most groundwater samples were not suitable for drinking purposes and salinity mainly originated from brackish-water aquaculture and salt-making activities. This study is of great importance for addressing groundwater salinity issues in coastal regions.

Origin and Implications of Pollution in Coastal Groundwater of the Guangdong Province

Chenzhe Li et al.

Summary: This study used a novel approach to analyze the hydrochemistry characteristics and health risks of groundwater in the Guangdong coastal areas, considering factors such as rock weathering, seawater intrusion, and anthropogenic inputs. The results showed that the groundwater had a high concentration of total dissolved solids and weakly alkaline quality. Most of the samples were acceptable for drinking, but there were unacceptable risks and higher health hazards for children in certain areas. The study suggests that attention should be paid to groundwater salinization and nitrate pollution when improving groundwater quality and exploring sustainable utilization of groundwater resources.

Spatial distribution and health risk assessment of dissolved heavy metals in groundwater of eastern China coastal zone

Zhenyan Wang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that heavy metal concentrations in groundwater in the Jiangsu Coastal Zone are mainly attributed to industrial pollution, seawater intrusion, and mineral dissolution. Particularly, high levels of B and As were found, exceeding standard limits and posing significant health risks.

Geochemical characteristics and quality of groundwater evaluation for drinking, irrigation, and industrial purposes from a part of hard rock aquifer of South India

N. Subba Rao et al.

Summary: This study focused on the geochemical characteristics and groundwater quality assessment in the hard rock aquifer of Telangana, South India. Water-rock interactions, ion exchange, and evaporation were identified as primary geochemical factors controlling groundwater chemistry, with anthropogenic activities playing a secondary role. Poor groundwater quality zones for drinking purposes were found in 34.97% of the studied area, mainly due to high levels of TDS, Na+, and Cl- ions. Effective strategic measures such as boiling, activated carbon filter, rainwater harvesting, and suitable coatings on water supply pipes were recommended to provide safe water for various purposes.

Genesis of the Xinfang Gold Deposit, Liaodong Peninsula: Insights from Fluid Inclusions and S-Sr Isotopic Constraints

Shuaijie Liu et al.

Summary: The North China Craton has been continuously reactivated since the Mesozoic, resulting in multiple episodes of gold mineralization in the Liaodong Peninsula. The Xinfang gold deposit, formed during the Yanshanian orogeny, is controlled by low angle transpressive fault systems and hosted by Neoarchean monzogranitic gneiss. The mineralizing temperatures, salinities, pressures, and sulfur sources of the deposit have been identified through fluid inclusion microthermometry and isotopic analysis.
