Aggregation-induced emission luminogens and tunable multicolor polymer networks modulated by dynamic covalent chemistry

Shilong Qin et al.

Summary: This paper reports a strategy for controlling multicolor emission in reversible covalent polymer networks using aggregation-induced emission (AIE) based luminescent materials controlled by dynamic covalent chemistry (DCC). The emission is readily controlled through various modes such as changing solvents, adding bases, and dynamic covalent reactions. Additionally, the construction of dynamic covalent cross-linked luminescent hydrogels with tunable fluorescent, self-healing, and mechanical properties was achieved. The combination of AIE and aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) fluorophores in the polymer network enabled the realization of multicolor modulation in both solution and gel states.

Remarkable mechanochromism and force-induced thermally activated delayed fluorescence enhancement from white-light-emitting organic luminogens with aggregation-induced emission

Yitao Zheng et al.

Summary: The study developed a series of organic luminogens with white-light emission and aggregation-induced delayed fluorescence (AIDF) characteristics. These emitters exhibited dual-emission of prompt fluorescence and TADF in the crystalline state, with white-light emissions easily tunable by altering chemical structure. The compounds also demonstrated remarkable and reversible mechanochromism, with emission colors switchable between white and yellow under stimuli.

Hyperbranched Polyborate: A Non-conjugated Fluorescent Polymer with Unanticipated High Quantum Yield and Multicolor Emission

Liulong Guo et al.

Summary: Non-conjugated fluorescent polymers with high fluorescence quantum yield (QY) and multicolor emission are highly desired but challenging to achieve. In this study, a new type of nonaromatic hyperbranched polyborates was reported, which exhibited both high QY and multicolor emission. The key factors contributing to the ultrahigh QY were identified as the synergistic effect of a rigid BO3 planar and flexible carbon chain, as well as the through-space dative bond in supramolecular aggregate. This work provides a new perspective for designing non-conjugated fluorescent polymers with high QY and multicolor emission.
