Synergistic effect of Aloe vera flower and Aloe gel on cutaneous wound healing targeting MFAP4 and its associated signaling pathway: In-vitro study

Sultana Razia et al.

Summary: This study investigates the synergistic effect of a mixture of Aloe vera flower and Aloe gel on cutaneous wound healing and reveals its molecular mechanism targeting microfibril-associated glycoprotein 4 (MFAP4) and its associated signaling pathway. The mixture enhances cell proliferation, migration, and ECM formation in normal human dermal fibroblast (NHDF) cells by increasing the expression of MFAP4. It also activates the ERK and AKT signaling pathways and slightly modifies the cell cycle. In addition, the mixture induces cell migration and suppresses inflammatory cytokines in HaCaT cells. The knockdown of MFAP4 highlights its crucial role in cutaneous wound healing.

Development and characterization of catechin-in-cyclodextrin-in-phospholipid liposome to eradicate MRSA-mediated surgical site infection: Investigation of their anti-infective efficacy through in vitro and in vivo studies

Simran Sinsinwar et al.

Summary: The study developed catechin-in-cyclodextrin-in-phospholipid liposome (CCPL) as a potential novel drug for treating MRSA-mediated surgical site infection (SSI). CCPL demonstrated higher water solubility and in vitro permeability, significant antibacterial activity, and healing effects. Therefore, CCPL may be considered a promising candidate for treating MRSA-induced SSI after clinical trials.

Anthraquinones as Potential Antibiofilm Agents Against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Zhi-Man Song et al.

Summary: This study evaluated anthraquinone compounds for antibacterial and antibiofilm activities against MRSA, leading to the discovery of potential antibiofilm agents, anthraquinone-2-carboxlic acid (6) and rhein (12). The structure-activity relationship analysis indicated that the hydroxyl group at the C-2 position played an important role in inhibiting biofilm formation, while the carboxyl group at the same position had great influence on antibacterial and biofilm eradication activities.
