The Investigation of the Effect of Filler Sizes in 3D-BN Skeletons on Thermal Conductivity of Epoxy-Based Composites

Zhengdong Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a simple and environmentally friendly method was proposed to enhance the through-plane thermal conductivity of epoxy composites using a 3D boron nitride framework. The impact of filler sizes in the 3D-BN skeletons on thermal conductivity was also investigated. It was found that the epoxy composite with larger BN fillers exhibited higher through-plane thermal conductivity and maintained low dielectric constants and losses, making it suitable for microelectronic device applications.

Enhanced thermal conductivity and wear resistance of polytetrafluoroethylene via incorporating hexagonal boron nitride and alumina particles

Hong Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and alumina particles (AO) are added to PTFE to improve its thermal conductivity while minimizing the loss in friction properties. The optimized filler ratio of 2:1 between h-BN and alumina significantly enhances the thermal conductivity of PTFE composites, while maintaining excellent dielectric and friction properties.

Hydrocarbon Resin-Based Composites with Low Thermal Expansion Coefficient and Dielectric Loss for High-Frequency Copper Clad Laminates

Jiaojiao Dong et al.

Summary: The rapid development of 5G communication technology requires improvements in the thermal stability and dielectric performance of high-frequency copper clad laminates (CCL). By adding a COP resin and SiO2 filler to the polyolefin system, the composite laminates demonstrated reduced thermal expansion coefficient and improved mechanical strength. The addition of the COP and SiO2 also influenced the porosity and dielectric loss of the composites.

Xuan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study constructed novel silicon dioxide/polybutadiene (SiO2/PB) composites with different SiO2 morphologies and surface function groups, showing extremely low dielectric constant and dielectric loss. The crosslinking reaction between surface surficial vinyl groups of the SiO2 and PB macromolecules tremendously suppressed the interfacial polarization of the composites, leading to improved material performance.

One-step alkyl-modification on boron nitride nanosheets for polypropylene nanocomposites with enhanced thermal conductivity and ultra-low dielectric loss

Zilong Xie et al.

Summary: This study presents a low-loading polypropylene nanocomposites with uniformly-dispersed and interfacial engineered boron nitride nanosheets, which exhibit significantly enhanced thermal conductivity of 2.74 W/m.K and remarkably low dielectric loss of only 0.002. The strong interfacial noncovalent interactions between BNNS and macromolecular chain suppress the interfacial polarization, while the well-maintained hexagonal crystalline lattice of BNNS promises efficient phonon transmission. These thermal and dielectric performances outperform most previously reported thermoconductive polymer-based dielectrics, and the material also offers excellent electric breakdown strength, flexibility, and stretchability, providing a promising avenue for fabricating thermo-conductive dielectrics with low dielectric loss.
