Recent development in biological activities and safety concerns of perillaldehyde from perilla plants: A review

Famous Erhunmwunsee et al.

Summary: Perillaldehyde (PAE), a major component of perilla plants, has antifungal and antimicrobial properties, as well as potential health benefits. It is used in various industries including food, perfume, and traditional medicine. Animal studies have shown PAE's anticancer, anti-depressant, and anti-inflammatory effects, but caution is advised due to potential adverse effects at high doses. Further research and clinical trials are needed to fully understand its properties and potential applications.

Antibiofilm effect of nisin alone and combined with food-grade oil components (thymol and eugenol) against Listeria monocytogenes cocktail culture on food and food-contact surfaces

Md Iqbal Hossain et al.

Summary: Listeria monocytogenes is a foodborne pathogen with potent biofilm-forming capability. This study found that combining nisin with thymol and eugenol can significantly inhibit the formation of L. monocytogenes biofilms, with better results than using any individual compound alone.

Inhibition of biofilm formation and quorum sensing by soy isoflavones in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Liqing Yin et al.

Summary: The study found that soybean isoflavones as a quorum sensing inhibitor exhibit significant inhibitory effects on violacein production, biofilm formation, motility, and virulence factor production in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Molecular docking analysis revealed a competitive interaction between soybean isoflavones and acyl-homoserine lactones.
