Cardioprotective effects of bosentan in 5-fluorouracil-induced cardiotoxicity

Marwa M. M. Refaie et al.

Summary: 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) can induce cardiotoxicity, but co-administration of bosentan can ameliorate this toxicity by modulating biochemical and histopathological changes, as well as regulating the TLR4/MyD88/NF kappa B signaling pathway, eNOS, and endothelin receptors.

Promising cardioprotective effect of baicalin in doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity through targeting toll-like receptor 4/nuclear factor-kB and Wnt/b-catenin pathways

Salwa R. Abo El-Ela et al.

Summary: Baicalin, a flavonoid extracted from Scutellariae baicalensis Georgi, exhibits potential in attenuating doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, and can inhibit the TLR4/NF-kB pathway while activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.

Baicalin prevents LPS-induced activation of TLR4/NF-κB p65 pathway and inflammation in mice via inhibiting the expression of CD14

Ya-jun Fu et al.

Summary: Baicalin attenuates LPS-induced inflammation by inhibiting the TLR4/NF-κBp65 pathway, with CD14 playing a crucial role in this process. Baicalin pretreatment inhibits CD14 expression, leading to the prevention of inflammatory responses.

Comparative effect of administration and discontinuation of sildenafil and/or clomipramine on the hepatic, cardiac and testicular tissues of male rats

Sawsan M. A. El-Sheikh et al.

Summary: Prolonged treatment with sildenafil and/or clomipramine resulted in oxidative stress, inflammation, and structural changes in the liver, heart, and testis of rats, as well as reduced sperm count and motility, increased abnormalities, and decreased levels of serum testosterone, FSH, and LH. However, all these effects were reversed after a four-week discontinuation of sildenafil. Additionally, improvements were seen in all alterations caused by long-term administration of clomipramine, SLD-CLO, and SHD-CLO during the recovery period.

Baicalein resensitizes tamoxifen-resistant breast cancer cells by reducing aerobic glycolysis and reversing mitochondrial dysfunction via inhibition of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha

Yan Chen et al.

Summary: Baicalein has the potential to reverse tamoxifen (TAM) resistance by enhancing the anti-cancer effects of TAM through inhibiting HIF-1α-mediated aerobic glycolysis and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Use of omeprazole, the proton pump inhibitor, as a potential therapy for the capecitabine-induced hand-foot syndrome

Shiori Hiromoto et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of omeprazole on capecitabine-induced hand-foot syndrome and found that omeprazole could potentially ameliorate the symptoms. Clinical database analysis also showed a lower reporting rate of capecitabine-related hand-foot syndrome in groups that used proton pump inhibitors, suggesting a prophylactic potential for omeprazole.
