Temperature dependence of red emission in YPO4:Pr3+ nanopowders

B. Kahouadji et al.

Summary: The temperature-dependence of red emission from YPO4:0.1% Pr3+ nanopowders was investigated to compare the spectroscopic properties between nanosized and single crystal forms. The differences were observed in emission intensity, phonon-assisted non-radiative transitions, and multiphonon relaxation processes between 3P0 and 1D2 levels. Furthermore, the potential application of YPO4:0.1% Pr3+ in nano-thermometry in the temperature range of 10-300 K was explored.

Blue Persistent Phosphor of YSiO2N:Ce3+ Developed by Codoping Sm3+ or Tm3+ Ions and Thermoluminescence Analysis of Their Trap Distributions

Yuuki Kitagawa et al.

Summary: In this study, blue persistent phosphors based on YSiO2N:Ce3+ were developed by estimating the trap depth and analyzing the trap distributions. The results demonstrate that Tm3+ and Sm3+ ions are optimal codopants to enhance the luminescence of Ce3+ in persistent phosphors.

Afterglow-intensity-ratio-based temperature sensing using a persistent phosphor

Chuan Liao et al.

Summary: The highly sensitive afterglow intensity ratio (AIR) thermometry based on thermal quenching (TQ) mechanism using Y3Al2Ga3O12:Pr3+ persistent phosphor is reported. The AIR shows strong temperature dependence in the range of 30-170 degrees C, with a maximum relative sensitivity of up to 4.12% degrees C-1 at 170 degrees C. The method is demonstrated by accurately measuring water temperature with an error of only 0.1 degrees C.

X-ray-charged bright persistent luminescence in NaYF4:Ln3+@NaYF4 nanoparticles for multidimensional optical information storage

Yixi Zhuang et al.

Summary: Monodispersed nanoscale NaYF4:Ln(3+) nanoparticles with surface-passivated core-shell structures exhibit intense X-ray-charged persistent luminescence and narrow-band emissions tunable from 480 to 1060 nm. The mechanism for persistent luminescence in NaYF4:Ln(3+) is proposed through thermoluminescence measurements and the host-referred binding energy (HRBE) scheme, suggesting the role of lanthanide ions as effective electron traps. These uniform and spherical nanoparticles are dispersible in solvents, enabling new applications such as 3-dimensional optical information storage and inkjet-printing multicolor persistent luminescent nanoparticles.
