Nd2O3-Ag Nanostructures for Plasmonic Biosensing, Antimicrobial, and Anticancer Applications

Summary: The green synthesis of nanomaterials with multifaceted applications in photonics and biomedical fields is a difficult challenge. This study demonstrates a 1-minute, user-friendly, and eco-friendly green synthesis of Nd2O3-Ag nanohybrids with synergistic surface functionalities. The nanohybrids possess excellent bactericidal, fungicidal, antioxidant, and anticancer properties, and can be used for food hazard sensing. The proposed methodology has the potential for transdisciplinary nanophotonics and biomedical sensing applications.

Modified dry bean pod waste (Phaseolus vulgaris) as a biosorbent for fluorescein removal from aqueous media: Batch and fixed bed studies

Summary: The study demonstrates that dry bean pods treated with chemical derivatives exhibit good sorption properties for removing fluorescein from water. A sorptive capacity of 36.80 mg g(-1) was obtained in batch studies, while 4.35 mg g(-1) was obtained in fixed column bed studies. Thermodynamic studies show that the adsorption process is exothermic and spontaneous, making it suitable for wastewater treatment.

Colorimetric detection of Hg2+ ion using fluorescein/thiourea sensor as a receptor in aqueous medium

The lower detection limit (LOD) and quantitation limit (LOQ) of Hg2+ ions with the receptor FLTU are 0.24 and 0.73 nmol L-1, respectively, as determined by absorption spectroscopy.

The growth process and morphological tuning of the as-synthesized Ag nanostructures were investigated experimentally. The results showed that the photocurrent of Ag NP/CuWO4 and Ag NW/CuWO4 photoanodes were significantly enhanced, and the incorporation of Ag NWs improved the incident photon to current conversion efficiency.

Comparative and Selective Interaction of Amino Acid D-Cysteine with Colloidal Gold Nanoparticles in the Presence of a Fluorescent Probe in Aqueous Medium

Summary: In this study, the comparative and selective interaction of amino acid n-cysteine (n-Cys) with citrate coated gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) in the presence of rhodamine B (RhB) was investigated. The fluorescence recovery efficiency and color change were analyzed to study the interactions of various compounds with the Au NPs/RhB mixed solution. The results showed higher fluorescence recovery and distinct color change for the interaction of n-Cys compared to other interfering compounds. The proposed interaction mechanism was further studied using various techniques, and the optimized combination of Au NPs and RhB was found to be an efficient platform for detection of n-Cys.

The resulting nanohybrids showed tunable and amplified fluorescence emission when interfaced with the SPCE platform, demonstrating their potential for biosensing applications.
