Summary: This study demonstrated that a stepwise preconditioning approach significantly enhanced the proliferation and chondrogenic potential of ageing hMSCs, and also reduced immunogenicity and senescence. Animal studies showed that the therapeutic effect of preconditioned MSCs in preventing OA development depended on the number of cells applied, with the best effect observed when treated with eight millions of hM-MSCs.

Evaluation of Allogeneic Bone-Marrow-Derived and Umbilical Cord Blood-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells to Prevent the Development of Osteoarthritis in An Equine Model

Further research is needed to validate these results and discover innovative strategies for optimizing the therapeutic benefits of these cells.
