On the vertical coupling effect of ballasted tracks in multi-span simply-supported railway bridges under operating conditions

Emma Moliner et al.

Summary: This contribution investigates the vertical coupling exerted by ballasted tracks on the vertical response of bridges. It reveals the significant influence of ballast shear mechanisms on train-induced vibrations under resonant conditions. The study also emphasizes the importance of including the ballasted track in the modeling process of bridge structures with adjacent decks.

A moving load amplitude spectrum for analyzing the resonance and vibration cancellation of simply supported bridges under moving loads

Jinhua Li et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel method for analyzing the resonance and vibration cancellation of simply supported bridges in the frequency domain using moving load amplitude spectrum (MLAS). By Fourier transforming the motion equation of the bridges under equidistant moving loads, the bridge's moving load spectrum and displacement response spectrum are derived. The MLAS reflects the displacement amplitude laws of the bridge's free vibration excited by moving loads, and the resonance and vibration cancellation of simply supported bridges are analyzed based on this MLAS in the frequency domain. The proposed MLAS provides a more comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing vibration cancellation compared to traditional methods.

Effect of soft-end amplification on elastically supported bridges with bearings of unequal stiffnesses scanned by moving test vehicle

Z. . L. Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the soft-end amplification (SEA) effect on frequency scanning of bridges with unequal end bearings. The temporal and spectral features of the vehicle response were examined using forward-backward scanning, and validated against various inequality ratios by the finite element method. It was found that lower stiffness bearings lead to lower bridge frequencies and increased accelerations and frequency amplitudes for the vehicle moving from the softer end. The efficacy of the proposed technique was verified under different conditions, and it was confirmed to be able to detect the first three frequencies and softer end of ES bridges.

Influences of Elastic Supports on Moving Load Identification of Euler-Bernoulli Beams Using Angular Velocity

Guandong Qiao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of elastic support stiffness on the accuracy of moving load identification, finding that the combination of angular velocities and accelerations provides a balanced solution for a wide range of elastic supports with different stiffnesses. The results show that translational rotational springs stiffness at the boundaries can significantly affect the accuracy of identified moving loads.
