Influence of dental prophylaxis procedures on the tooth veneer interface in resin-based composite and polymer-infiltrated ceramic veneer restorations: an in vitro study

Lena Unterschuetz et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of dental prophylaxis cleaning procedures and artificial aging on veneers in human teeth. The study found that prophylaxis procedures resulted in deepening of the marginal interface and marginal gaps in PICN restorations. In addition, ultrasonic scaling led to increased surface roughness in PICN veneers. These findings suggest that prophylaxis procedures have effects on the marginal and internal interface regions in veneers, especially in PICN materials and after ultrasonic scaling.
