Deciphering the tectonometamorphic history of subducted metapelites using quartz-in-garnet and Ti-in-quartz (QuiG-TiQ) geothermobarometry-A key for understanding burial in the Scandinavian Caledonides

Pauline Jeanneret et al.

Summary: The tectonometamorphic evolution of the Lower Seve Nappe in the Scandinavian Caledonides was characterized using various P-T estimation techniques. The results show that quartz inclusions in garnet provide critical data to constrain the evolutionary path of the metasedimentary rocks.

Late Neoproterozoic extended continental margin development recorded by the Seve Nappe Complex of the northern Scandinavian Caledonides

Katarzyna Walczak et al.

Summary: This study expands the knowledge about the Neoproterozoic metamorphic history of the Baltoscandian margin in the northern Scandinavian Caledonides. The research reveals that the studied rocks underwent high-grade metamorphism in the Ediacaran and lack obvious evidence for Caledonian high-pressure metamorphism.

The role of crustal contamination in magma evolution of Neoproterozoic metaigneous rocks from Southwest Svalbard

Karolina Goluchowska et al.

Summary: Late Neoproterozoic metavolcanic rocks along the Southwest coast of Svalbard were influenced by continental magmatism, and potential sources of crustal contamination were assessed. The study found that the metavolcanic rocks in the South experienced a higher degree of contamination, while those in the North were influenced by carbonate and shale.

Zircon and monazite reveal late Cambrian/early Ordovician partial melting of the Central Seve Nappe Complex, Scandinavian Caledonides

Christopher J. Barnes et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the tectonic history of the Seve Nappe Complex (SNC) by analyzing the rocks from Avardo and Marsfjallet gneisses. The results show evidence of late Cambrian/early Ordovician partial melting, Middle Ordovician (U)HP metamorphism, and late Silurian tectonism. It implies that the SNC underwent south-to-north oblique subduction in late Cambrian time and subsequent north-to-south exhumation before the late Silurian continental collision.

Using Th-U-Pb geochronology to extract crystallization ages of Paleozoic metamorphic monazite contaminated by initial Pb

C. J. Barnes et al.

Summary: Geochronology of Th-rich minerals benefits from utilizing three isotopic systems for accurate data assessment. The Pb-208/Th-232 system is particularly advantageous in cases with initial Pb components, as it is the least sensitive to initial Pb effects. Laser ablation inductively coupled mass spectrometry has been used to successfully date different generations of monazite and interpret their formation processes.

Diachronous collision in the Seve Nappe Complex: Evidence from Lu-Hf geochronology of eclogites (Norrbotten, North Sweden)

Kathrin Fassmer et al.

Summary: The collision of Baltica and Laurentia during the Caledonian Orogeny around 400-420 Ma is recorded in the Seve Nappe Complex in Sweden. Eclogites found in the Vaimok and Tsakkok lenses represent rocks from the Baltican continental margin and former oceanic basalts associated with calcschists, possibly representing the ocean-continent transition between Baltica and Iapetus. The ages of eclogites from the Vaimok and Tsakkok lenses were determined to be around 480-488 Ma, suggesting different tectonic events in the Seve Nappe Complex in Jamtland and Norrbotten.
