Enhanced energy storage performance of eco-friendly BNT-based relaxor ferroelectric ceramics via polarization mismatch-reestablishment and viscous polymer process

Wenjing Shi et al.

Summary: In this work, a novel and eco-friendly relaxor ferroelectric system, (1-x) (0.8Bi0.5Na0.4K0.1TiO3-0.2SrTiO3)-xNaNbO3 (BS-xNN) ceramics, was synthesized using a solid state reaction technique. The structural, microstructural, dielectric, and ferroelectric properties of the ceramics were comprehensively investigated. The study found that the Ti-O coupling decreased with increasing NN content, while the Nb-O coupling strengthened, resulting in a nano-scale polarization mismatch-reestablishment process that enhanced the energy storage performance. The viscous polymer process also significantly increased the breakdown strength of the ceramic samples. Moreover, the synthesized 0.6BS-0.4NN ceramics exhibited an ultrahigh recoverable energy storage density and high energy storage efficiency, as well as thermal stability across a wide temperature range.
