Reactive flash sintering and electrical transport properties of high-entropy (MgCoNiCuZn)1-xLixO oxides

Baisheng Ma et al.

Summary: In this study, high-entropy oxides doped with lithium were synthesized using reactive flash sintering. The effects of flash sintering on the microstructure and electrical property of the materials were investigated. The results showed that charge unbalance in the Li-doped materials synthesized via flash sintering was compensated by oxygen vacancies and holes in the valence band, which explained the mixed ionic-electronic transport behavior.

Single-phase formation mechanism and dielectric properties of sol-gel-derived Ba(Ti 0.2 Zr 0.2 Sn 0.2 Hf 0.2 Ce 0.2 )O 3 high-entropy ceramics

Jia Liu et al.

Summary: Single-phase Ba(Ti 0.2 Zr 0.2 Sn 0.2 Hf 0.2 Ce 0.2 )O 3 (BTZSHC) high-entropy ceramics were successfully prepared via the sol-gel method. The high entropy is the driving force for single-phase formation and a large entropy and negative enthalpy contribute to the formation of single-phase compounds. The sluggish-diffusion effect ensures the thermal stability of the ceramic system. The ceramics exhibit relaxor ferroelectric behavior.

Haoxuan Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, high-entropy ceramics and high-entropy ceramics doped with SiC were fabricated and their oxidation behavior was investigated. The results showed that the addition of SiC improved the oxidation resistance of the ceramics and suppressed the microcracks that appeared during the oxidation process.

Summary: Yb2Si2O7/Si environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) produced by low-pressure plasma spray (LPPS) exhibit superior durability compared to those produced by air plasma spray (APS) due to significantly reduced thermally grown oxide (TGO) growth rate, denser and crack-free microstructure, higher bonding strength, and reduced coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) mismatch in LPPS EBCs.
