Effect of crumb rubber addition on the deformation and fracture behavior of ductile epoxy matrix

Sudhendu N. Tiwari et al.

Summary: A strategy is demonstrated to utilize waste crumb rubber in ductile epoxy for low-strength structural applications. The addition of crumb rubber particles enhances the energy absorption and fracture energy of the epoxy matrix, while also improving the storage modulus and glass transition temperature of the material. The inclusion of crumb rubber particles also reduces the intensity of transmitted waves, suggesting potential applications in impact-resistant panels.

Compressive behavior of crump rubber reinforced epoxy composites

Kiran Shahapurkar

Summary: The study found that crump rubber reinforced epoxy composites exhibit high energy absorption and higher strain capacity, but their compression modulus and strength values are lower than pure epoxy. By increasing the crump rubber content, the energy absorption of the composite can be significantly improved.

Parametric Analysis of Epoxy/Crumb Rubber Composite by Using Taguchi-GRA Hybrid Technique

Kiran Shahapurkar et al.

Summary: This study investigates the parameters affecting solid particle erosion of crumb rubber epoxy composite, focusing on impact velocity, impingement angle, standoff distance, erodent size, and crumb rubber content. The Taguchi coupled gray relational analysis type statistical model is used to study the interactions and optimized parameters, finding that impingement angle and crumb rubber content significantly minimize erosion. Confirmation experiments show a noticeable improvement in erosion resistance under certain conditions.

Leverage of Environmental Pollutant Crump Rubber on the Dry Sliding Wear Response of Epoxy Composites

Kiran Shahapurkar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of crump rubber on the dry sliding wear behavior of epoxy composites, revealing that increasing crump rubber content reduces the wear rate of composites and specific wear values at higher loads. The coefficient of friction decreases with an increase in crump rubber content, indicating the effectiveness of reinforcing crump rubber in epoxy matrices. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) results show that crump rubber content is a significant parameter influencing the wear characteristic of the composites.

Tensile behavior of environmental pollutant crumb rubber filled epoxy composites

Kiran Shahapurkar

Summary: The tensile test conducted on crumb rubber/epoxy composite showed that the composite with crumb rubber has higher modulus and strength compared to the neat epoxy sample. Among all compositions, epoxy with 30% crumb rubber exhibited the highest modulus and strength, demonstrating its potential for utilitarian applications.
