The Trauma Dyad: The Role of Informal Caregivers for Older Adults After Traumatic Injury

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between injury severity and informal caregiving received by injured older adults. The findings showed that the care needs of older adults significantly increased after injury, and these needs were mostly met by informal caregivers such as family members. The results can help caregivers understand and adapt to these changes, and facilitate post-acute care transitions.
