Copper-catalyzed asymmetric propargylic substitution of anthrones and propargylic esters

Zhiheng Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly enantioselective propargylic substitution reaction of anthrones with propargylic esters using copper salts with chiral N, N, P-ligand was disclosed. This strategy shows broad substrate compatibility, mild reaction conditions, excellent yields with remarkable enantioselectivity, and enables the synthesis of diverse products.

Stereodivergent propargylic alkylation of enals via cooperative NHC and copper catalysis

Yu-Hua Wen et al.

Summary: The authors have developed a method to construct four stereoisomers of oxindoles with high enantioselectivity and diastereoselectivity using cooperative copper- and organocatalysis. The ability to precisely control the reactive site planar in the region is of great importance in asymmetric stereodivergent catalysis. This method provides a new strategy for the synthesis of chiral functional molecules and has potential applications in alkaloid synthesis.

Ruthenium- and Copper-Catalyzed Propargylic Substitution Reactions of Propargylic Alcohol Derivatives with Hydrazones

Shiyao Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, propargylic substitution reactions using ruthenium and copper catalysis with N-monosubstituted hydrazones as ambident nucleophiles were investigated. It was found that N-monosubstituted hydrazones exhibited different reactivities depending on the catalytic system, resulting in either propargylic alkylated or aminated products. DFT calculations were used to study the reaction pathways and further transformation of the products yielded multisubstituted pyrazoles in good to high yields.

Ruthenium-Catalyzed Enantioselective Propargylic Phosphinylation of Propargylic Alcohols with Phosphine Oxides

Shiyao Liu et al.

Summary: In recent years, significant progress has been made in the development of transition metal-catalyzed enantioselective propargylic substitution reactions. However, until now, no successful example with phosphorus-centered nucleophiles has been reported. This study presents the first successful example of ruthenium-catalyzed enantioselective propargylic substitution reactions using propargylic alcohols as substrates and diarylphosphine oxides as phosphorus-centered nucleophiles, providing a new method for preparing chiral phosphorus-containing organic compounds.

Switching of Enantioselectivity in the Cu-Catalyzed Asymmetric Decarboxylative Aldol Reaction of Tryptanthrin with β-Keto Acids: An Unexpected Counteranion Effect

Fang-Fang Feng et al.

Summary: The study presents a Cu-bisoxazoline-catalyzed enantioselective decarboxylative aldol reaction for the synthesis of a series of phaitanthrin A analogues, with both enantiomers of the products obtainable with good to high enantioselectivity by simply changing copper salts. Tentative stereochemical models based on X-ray crystallographic analysis of chiral Cu(II)-bisoxazoline complexes explain the observed counteranion-induced switching in enantioselectivity.

Copper-Catalyzed Enantioselective Trifluoromethylthiolation of Secondary Propargyl Sulfonates

Xing Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, a copper-catalyzed enantioselective nucleophilic trifluoromethylthiolation of secondary propargyl sulfonates with trifluoromethylthio silver was reported, providing a new efficient strategy for the asymmetric synthesis of trifluoromethylthiolated compounds with high efficiency, good enantioselectivity, and broad substrate scope.
