Multi-functionalized fluorinated graphene composite coating for achieving durable electronics: Ultralow corrosion rate and high electrical insulating passivation

Muhammad Usama Arshad et al.

Summary: Graphene is considered the best anticorrosion material, but it promotes galvanic corrosion when used as a filler in polymer composites. This study introduces a unique fluorinated graphene produced by a cost-effective fluorination method, which is compatible with polymer matrices for electronic passivation. The composite shows superior anticorrosion performance by tuning its surface properties and understanding its electrical conductivity and fluorination level.

Numerical Investigation of Fabricated MWCNTs/Polystyrene Nanofibrous Membrane for DCMD

Asmaa Elrasheedy et al.

Summary: By compositing MWCNTs with PS using electrospinning technique, a nanofibrous membrane was created and compared with a blank membrane to evaluate its performance in direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD). The composite membrane showed significant improvements in hydrophobicity and porosity compared to the pristine membrane, as indicated by an increase in water contact angle and porosity. Simulation results demonstrated that the PS/MWCNTs membrane exhibited higher permeate flux and better overall system performance at any given feed inlet temperature.

Production and investigation of mechanical properties of graphene/polystyrene nano composites

Yasir Raza et al.

Summary: The study focused on analyzing and optimizing the tensile properties of graphene-polystyrene nanocomposites, demonstrating that the incorporation of graphene in the polystyrene matrix significantly improves its mechanical properties. The concentration of graphene was identified as a critical parameter, with the optimized combination being 0.60 wt.% graphene, 10 minutes of sonication time post-mixing, and a sonication temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. The results showed a maximum increase of 97.36% in ultimate tensile strength, 82.70% in elongation, and 174.08% in elastic modulus compared to pristine polystyrene.

Electrospun highly corrosion-resistant polystyrene-nickel oxide superhydrophobic nanocomposite coating

A. Bahgat Radwan et al.

Summary: A key challenge in producing superhydrophobic coatings is tailoring the surface morphology on the micro-nanometer scale. In this study, a feasible method was employed to manufacture polystyrene/nickel oxide nanocomposite superhydrophobic coatings on aluminum alloys. The addition of NiO nanoparticles resulted in the highest water contact angle and low contact angle hysteresis for the PSN-2 composite.
