The ZIF/AC materials were prepared by loading trace amounts of ZIF-67 onto commercial activated carbon and calcining at different temperatures. The Co/AC-800 material showed highly dispersed Co and N on its surface, which contributed to its superior adsorption desulfurization performance for DBT compared to the two matrix materials. The acid-base interaction and π-π interaction were identified as the main factors, supported by quasi-second-order kinetics and Langmuir model analysis.
The ZIF/AC materials, produced from trace amounts of zeolite imidazole skeleton ZIF-67 loaded onto commercial activated carbon (AC) particles and subsequently calcined for 6 h at a series of temperatures, exhibit highly dispersed Co and N on its surface, especially showing the same specific surface area as the original activated carbon at 800 degrees C (Co/AC-800). The adsorption desulfurization performance of Co/AC-800 for dibenzothiophene (DBT) is better than that of the two matrix materials and still the same after 5 cycles, which is mainly ascribed to the acid-base interaction, n-n interaction and further demonstrated by the quasi-second-order kinetics and Langmuir model.
