This article introduces the chemical properties, synthesis methods, characterization, and application examples of zinc ferrite. Zinc ferrite is a magnetic material that can be used as catalyst and mixed with other materials. It can also be used in radar and microwave absorption as well as pollutant adsorption.
Zinc ferrite or franklinite (ZnFe2O4) is a kind of cubic spinel ferrite material with magnetic properties, which has been studied since 1915's. ZnFe2O4 is widely used in catalytic processes and energy-related fields thanks to its narrow bandgap energy, although they are used as radar and microwave absorbent, pollutant adsorbent, etcetera. One of the favorable properties of ZnFe2O4 is that it can be hybridized, doped, and combined with other materials like polymers, metals, etc. Here, we tried to introduce the brief and general aspects of ZnFe2O4 chemistry, syn-thesis, properties, characterization, and some examples of its applications.
