Surface modification of spherical fluorescent nano-material YPO4:Sm3+ and its adsorption for BSA

Jinxiu Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, the microwave-assisted Stober method was used to modify the surface of spherical nano-phosphor YPO4:Sm3+ and successfully solve the issues of hydrophilicity and biocompatibility. The modified product showed a uniform monodisperse core-shell nano-sphere structure and exhibited mono-molecular layer adsorption to proteins.

Iterative method of reconstructing the size distribution function of spherical nanoparticles based on the intensity of the small-angle X-ray scattering including the interference contribution to the intensity

Artem V. Kuchko et al.

Summary: For systems of polydisperse spherical particles, interference distortions in the scattering intensity can significantly affect the result of reconstructing the particle size distribution. An iterative method has been developed to reconstruct the size distribution function from small-angle X-ray scattering intensity with interference distortions, and its efficiency has been confirmed through simulations and experiments.

Structural distortion induced enhancement in UV-C emitting properties of Pr3+-activated La-substituted yttrium phosphates (Y1-x,LaxPO4:Pr3+)

Junsang Cho

Summary: The UV-C emission in the spectral range of 200-280 nm is crucial for disinfection and sterilization, especially in the context of the current global pandemic. Researchers have found that substituting La for Y in rare earth phosphates activated with Pr3+ can greatly enhance the UV-C emission intensity.

Controlled hydrothermal processing of multiform (Y0.95Eu0.05)PO4 crystals and comparison of photoluminescence

Junfeng Zou et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized (Y0.95Eu0.05)PO4 nano/microcrystals with various morphologies using maleic acid as a modifier, and identified solution pH, MA/(Y0.95Eu0.05)(3+) molar ratio, and PO43-/(Y0.95Eu0.05)(3+) molar ratio as crucial factors in determining the phase structure and crystal shape/size of the product. Photoluminescence of the crystals was strongly dependent on morphology/structure and discussed in detail in terms of various factors.

Structural Properties and Dielectric Hysteresis of Molecular Organic Ferroelectric Grown from Different Solvents

Elena Balashova et al.

Summary: Comparative analysis of crystal structure, Raman spectra, and dielectric hysteresis loops was conducted on organic ferroelectric crystals of 2-methylbenzimidazole grown using different methods. While the crystals showed identical molecular vibrations and similar crystal structure, differences in coercive fields and polarization switching speed were observed, possibly due to solvent molecules penetrating the crystal structure. Analysis within the Kolmogorov-Avrami-Ishibashi model revealed varying characteristic frequencies and activation fields.

The influence of condition of the monazite structured La0.9Y0.1PO4 nanocrystals sintering on thermal and mechanical properties of the material

M. O. Enikeeva et al.

Summary: This study synthesized nanocrystalline La0.9Y0.1PO4 material with monazite structure through thermal treatment, and investigated the influence of treatment temperature on its properties. Annealing-quenching treatment at different temperatures resulted in varied porosity, grain growth, and active sintering above 1300 degrees C. Nanocrystalline materials with a grain size of around 40 nm treated at 1200 degrees C exhibited good thermal and mechanical properties, suitable for thermal insulation applications.
