Effect of alcohol use disorder family history on cognitive function

Lotfi Khemiri et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between family history and cognitive functions in patients with alcohol use disorder (AUD). The results showed that AUD patients and individuals with positive family history exhibited poorer performance in impulsivity, future planning, and emotional processing speed. These findings suggest potential cognitive endophenotypes in AUD that can be targeted for prevention and treatment strategies.

Neurophysiological correlates of alcohol-specific inhibition in alcohol use disorder and its association with craving and relapse

Hallie M. Batschelet et al.

Summary: This study investigated neurophysiological correlates of inhibitory control in patients with Alcohol Use Disorder, finding that the response inhibition conflict may be enhanced in alcohol-related contexts and individuals can be differentiated between relapsers and abstainers based on specific ERP components.

The association between implicit and explicit affective inhibitory control, rumination and depressive symptoms

Summary: This study examined the relationship between inhibitory control, rumination, and depressive symptoms using a Go/No-Go task, finding that elevated depressive symptoms were associated with reduced inhibitory control and affective interference from negative emotions.

Augmented tendency to act and altered impulse control in alcohol use disorders

Caroline Quoilin et al.

Summary: This study found that excitatory influences are particularly high in heavy drinkers and individuals with severe alcohol use disorder, especially in the dominant hand. Inhibitory influences were normal in heavy drinkers, but lacking in individuals with severe alcohol use disorder. Alcohol-related exposure increased craving levels, but only in heavy drinkers.
