Pseudocapacitive storage in cathode materials of aqueous zinc ion batteries toward high power and energy density

Yuan Gao et al.

Summary: The pseudocapacitive storage process in rechargeable batteries is a promising method to achieve high power and energy density. However, in aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs), the slow reaction kinetics caused by the divalent charge of zinc ions poses a challenge in maintaining capacity at high current densities. This review focuses on high-rate AZIB cathode materials that utilize the pseudocapacitive storage process, such as manganese-based materials, vanadium-based derivatives, and other compounds. The understanding of pseudocapacitive behavior in these materials can contribute to the development of high-rate cathodes for AZIBs.
