Controlled preparation and properties of acrylic acid epoxy-acrylate composite emulsion for self-crosslinking coatings

Kai Zhang et al.

Summary: The study successfully prepared a stable epoxy-acrylate composite latex through emulsion polymerization, with the structural conformation determined by FTIR. Factors affecting the stability of the composite latex were investigated, and the optimal conditions were found to be 1.5 wt% methyl acrylic acid and 15 wt% modified EPAC oligomer. TEM and TOPEM-DSC results confirmed the self-crosslinking ability of the composite latex during film formation.
