Graphene, Dirac equation and analogue gravity

Antonio Gallerati

Summary: We present an updated study on the electronic properties of graphene nanoscrolls, utilizing a curved space Dirac equation to describe the charge carriers. By using an explicit parametrization in cylindrical coordinates and obtaining analytical solutions for the pseudoparticle modes, a compact expression for the optical conductivity of the sample is derived. This formulation is then applied to simulate a cylindrical nanoscroll geometry.

Co-precipitated Ni/Mn shell coated nano Cu-rich core structure: A phase-field study

Yuhong Zhao

Summary: This study investigates the formation paths, diversity patterns, segregation modes, and magnetic effect of Ni/Mn shell-coated Cu-rich particles in Fe-15at. % Cu-1at. %Mn-1at. %Ni alloy using the phase-field method. The research reveals the coexistence of three nucleation mechanisms and the appearance of four structural patterns during precipitation, growth, and coarsening. The Cu-rich nanoparticles transform from bcc-a-Cu to fcc-g-Cu, while the Ni/Mn shell remains bcc and precipitates on the surface of bcc-a-Cu, fcc-g-Cu, or both. The Ni/Mn shell inhibits crystal structure transformation and phase separation. Adjusting aging time, magnetic field, and elastic field conditions can yield different microstructures and mechanical properties.

Tailoring the molecular weight of polymer additives for organic semiconductors

Zhengran He et al.

Summary: A binary system consisting of an organic semiconductor and a polymer additive has great potential for high-performance, solution-processable electronic devices. The molecular weight of the polymer additive plays a critical role in modulating crystal growth, thin film morphology, and charge transport in organic semiconductors.

Negative-curvature spacetime solutions for graphene

Antonio Gallerati

Summary: In this study, we analyze the electronic properties of graphene-like materials on a curved substrate with charge carriers, particularly focusing on constant negative-curvature spacetime. We work out an explicit parametrization in the case of Beltrami geometry, providing an analytic solution for the pseudoparticles modes living on the curved surface. We then use the massless Dirac description to determine how it impacts the sample's local density of states.
