Properties of zirconium ferrite nanoparticles prepared by hydrothermal process

Navneet Kaur et al.

Summary: In this study, zirconium ferrite nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method and then calcined. The results showed that crystal phases were formed and the average crystallite size increased with the temperature. The surface morphology of the particles was observed using FESEM. UV-vis absorption spectra were used to determine the optical band gap, which decreased with the temperature. The photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine-B (RhB) by zirconium ferrite nanoparticles was achieved with the sample calcined at 700 degrees C.

Macrocyclic pseudo crown-ether- manganese (II) complex coated on nanomagnetic LDH- catalyzed Biginelli annulation reactions

Farzaneh Ghobakhloo et al.

Summary: A single-site macrocyclic pseudo crown ether-manganese complex was formed by complexation of a new tetradentate ligand with manganese (II) halide precursor through an electron-transfer process. The prepared [gamma-Fe2O3@LDH/PCE-Mn(II)] exhibited efficient catalytic activity in the synthesis of functionalized chromeno-pyrimidines via a Biginelli-like annulation process. Various aryl aldehydes and carbamide/thiocarbamide reacted with a I3-ketoester moiety in ethanol at 60 degrees C, yielding 65-92% in 10-40 minutes. This catalytic process relied on the Mn(II)-catalyzed in situ generation of an imine intermediate followed by the addition of a I3-ketoester moiety, ring closure reaction, and removal of a water molecule to produce a library of new chromeno-pyrimidine-2,5-diones/thione products with a broad substrate scope.
