Coupling of piezocatalysis and photocatalysis for efficient degradation of methylene blue by Bi0.9Gd0.07La0.03FeO3 nanotubes

Angom Devadatta Mani et al.

Summary: This study reports a strategy to simultaneously introduce piezocatalysis and enhance the intrinsic photocatalysis in a single catalyst. By doping, the surface oxygen vacancy concentration of the catalyst is increased, improving the catalytic efficiency for organic pollutant degradation. Under simultaneous light irradiation and ultrasonic excitation, the catalyst shows excellent catalytic performance, achieving a 95% degradation of methylene blue.

Design, Fabrication, and Mechanism of Nitrogen-Doped Graphene-Based Photocatalyst

Chuanbiao Bie et al.

Summary: Nitrogen-doped graphene (NG) as a derivative of graphene, with the ability to break the undifferentiated structure, open the bandgap, and provide an uneven electron density distribution, retains the advantages of graphene while offering novel properties for photocatalysis. With wide applications in hydrogen production, CO2 reduction, pollutant degradation, and other directions, NG-based photocatalysis shows great potential for addressing energy and environmental challenges.

Effect of zinc oxide quantum dots on the photovoltaic properties of natural dye-sensitized solar cells

Masoud Peymannia et al.

Summary: In this study, natural dyes were extracted from extracted from Cytisus, Alcea rosea, and Roselle flowers using the solvent method, and then combined with zinc oxide quantum dots (ZnO QDs) to enhance the efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC). The optimized quantum dots exhibited a particle size of about 3 nm and a maximum emission intensity of 1550 at 520 nm. The modified solar cells showed an efficiency increase of 17% compared to unmodified cells, highlighting the potential for using quantum dots to improve environmentally friendly solar cells.
