Low Exciton Binding Energies and Localized Exciton-Polaron States in 2D Tin Halide Perovskites

Kameron R. Hansen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the intrinsic differences between lead and tin metal halide perovskites (MHPs) using the spectroscopic isolation of excitons in 2D MHPs. The results show that tin MHPs have larger polaron binding energy and lower exciton binding energy compared to lead MHPs, and their excitons exhibit Frenkel-like characteristics.

Transversal Halide Motion Intensifies Band-To-Band Transitions in Halide Perovskites

Christian Gehrmann et al.

Summary: This study investigates the optoelectronic properties of halide perovskites using first-principles molecular dynamics. The results show that these materials exhibit dynamic flexibility and vibrational anharmonicity, which are favorable for rapid optical absorption. In comparison to other materials, halide perovskites have sharper optical absorption profiles, possibly due to their unique vibrational characteristics.

Excitons at the Phase Transition of 2D Hybrid Perovskites br

Jonas D. Ziegler et al.

Summary: 2D halide perovskites, with their strong interactions among electronic, optical, and vibrational excitations, hold great potential for optoelectronic applications. However, the influence of structural phase transitions on exciton properties is still not well explored. This study finds that the phase transition has no significant impact on exciton binding energy and diffusion, highlighting the unusual nature of excitons in 2D perovskites compared to commonly considered transport mechanisms.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that the optical and electronic properties of 2D hybrid organic-inorganic halide perovskites are strongly influenced by thermal fluctuations. By comparing the structural dynamics of 3D and 2D crystals, the impact of organic cations on the inorganic scaffold can be revealed, providing insights into the performance of these materials.

How free exciton-exciton annihilation lets bound exciton emission dominate the photoluminescence of 2D-perovskites under high-fluence pulsed excitation at cryogenic temperatures

Milian Kaiser et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the photoluminescence spectra of atomically thin 2D lead iodide perovskite films are influenced by exciton-exciton annihilation, showing different characteristics at varying excited-state densities and temperatures. Free exciton and bound exciton emissions dominate at different excited-state densities and temperatures in different structures of perovskite films. Additionally, the presence of PbI2 inclusions also affects the photoluminescence spectra.

Temperature-Dependent Photoluminescence of Hexafluorobenzene-Intercalated Phenethylammonium Tin Iodide 2D Perovskite

Taniya Dutta et al.

Summary: Layered two-dimensional hybrid tin halide perovskites show potential for optoelectronic applications by resisting oxidation and modifying optical properties through interlayer molecular intercalation. The intercalation of hexafluorobenzene increases the bandgap and enhances photoluminescence intensity at cryogenic temperatures by suppressing non-emissive states. These results demonstrate the significant impact of molecular intercalation on the electronic and optical properties of layered hybrid perovskites.
