Chemical Mechanism-Dominated and Reporter-Tunable Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering via Directional Supramolecular Assembly

Zhaoyin Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, supramolecular assembly on the surface of nanomaterials enabled charge transfer and enhanced resonance Raman scattering, resulting in a tunable SERS system. This system not only displayed affinities of different host-guest interactions, but also evaluated the effects of drugs for Alzheimer's disease.

The Effect of Photoinduced Surface Oxygen Vacancies on the Charge Carrier Dynamics in TiO2 Films

Omur E. Dagdeviren et al.

Summary: The impact of photoinduced surface oxygen vacancies (PI-SOV) on the dynamics of hole migration in MOS films, such as titanium dioxide, was measured using time-resolved atomic force microscopy. The results show that the time constant associated with hole migration is strongly affected by PI-SOV in a reversible manner, providing insights into hole dynamics physics and enabling the development of emerging technologies.

In Situ Raman Observation of Oxygen Activation and Reaction at Platinum-Ceria Interfaces during CO Oxidation

Di-Ye Wei et al.

Summary: The study investigates the activation and reaction of active oxygen species during CO oxidation at platinum-ceria interfaces using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, revealing the evolution of different oxygen species and reaction pathways. Oxygen efficiently dissociates into chemisorbed O on Pt and lattice Ce-O species simultaneously at interfacial Ce3+ defect sites under CO oxidation, leading to a much higher activity at platinum-ceria interfaces compared to that at Pt alone.

Advances of surface-enhanced Raman and IR spectroscopies: from nano/microstructures to macro-optical design

Hai-Long Wang et al.

Summary: Raman and infrared spectroscopy have low detection sensitivity, but advancements have been made through the development of optical systems, nanostructure-based techniques, and their coupling for maximizing detection sensitivity. Plasmonics, interactions with nano/microstructures, and coupling effects have been studied to increase surface sensitivity. The focus is on systematically designing macro-optical systems to maximize excitation efficiency and detection sensitivity, with advancements in scanning-probe microscopy-based nanoscale spectroscopy. Prospects include emerging techniques and methodologies for further developments in the field.
