Jian-Fu Tang et al.

Summary: In this study, a photodetector and humidity sensor based on zinc oxide nanowires (ZnO NWs) with CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) were developed. The excellent optoelectronic properties of PQDs make them ideal for semiconductor sensors. The experimental results showed that the performance of PQD/ZnO NWs was superior to that of ZnO NWs, especially in terms of humidity response and photocurrent.

Understanding Discrete Growth in Semiconductor Nanocrystals: Nanoplatelets and Magic-Sized Clusters

Andrew B. Pun et al.

Summary: Semiconductor nanocrystals fluoresce with color dependent on size and shape, with efforts to synthesize uniform particles. Discrete growth is observed in two major classes: semiconductor nanoplatelets and magic-sized clusters, offering a different approach to uniform nanocrystals. Understanding the mechanism behind discrete growth may lead to more uniform nanomaterials with enhanced optical properties.

Enhancing Defect Tolerance with Ligands at the Surface of Lead Halide Perovskites

Tyler J. Smart et al.

Summary: High defect tolerance is a primary reason for the long charge carrier lifetime and high photoluminescence quantum yield in bulk lead halide perovskites, while surface defects play a critical role in determining charge carrier dynamics and optical properties, especially for LHP nanocrystals and quantum dots. The study reveals the explicit role of molecular ligands in passivating surface defects, eliminating trap states in favor of shallow states and enhancing photoluminescence.

CsPbX3 Quantum Dots Embedded in Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-8 Microparticles for Bright White Light-Emitting Devices

Yubin Zhao et al.

Summary: CsPbX3 perovskite quantum dots (QDs) were successfully synthesized in situ within the hole of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) using a mechanical chemical synthesis method without organic solvent addition, improving the stability and resistance to ion exchange of the QDs. The presence of CsPbX3 QDs in the ZIF-8 matrix protected the QDs and prevented luminescence degradation, resulting in narrower emission spectra and stable photoluminescence with high quantum yields. The encapsulation of CsPbX3 QDs in ZIF-8 greatly enhances their stability, making them promising for LED and optoelectronic device applications.
