Energy/entropy partition of force at DNA stretching

Tomas Bleha et al.

Summary: This study uses molecular simulation to compute the energy/entropic partition of force in stretched DNA, showing a decrease in internal energy and an increase in positive entropy contribution during moderate extension. It suggests that the negative energy elasticity in DNA can be generalized to other semiflexible polymers described by the WLC model.

Summary: Semiflexible polymers have various important roles in biological systems and materials due to their hierarchical length-scale properties. Controlling confinement can promote order but may also lead to long-ranged disruptions.

Piston Compression of Semiflexible Ring Polymers in Channels

Summary: Molecular simulations reveal that ring polymers are less bendable and exhibit a unique decrease in chain span compared to linear polymers under compression. The force-displacement functions for both topologies can be well explained by the mean-field Flory scheme.
