Towards the efficient modelling of trapped air pockets during squeeze flow

Michael Mueller et al.

Summary: In this study, the flows of adhesive in bonding processes were systematically analyzed to identify optimal initial application patterns for minimizing the risks of entrapped air pockets. The authors introduced an efficient flow model, the partially filled gaps model (PFGM), and extended it to include functionality of trapped air pockets. The model was benchmarked and compared with a CFD calculation, and then applied to a real scenario. The results indicate the high potential of this technique.

Electrocoalescence of water droplet trains in sunflower oil under the coupling of Non-uniform electric and Laminar flow fields

Bin Li et al.

Summary: Electrocoalescence is an energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly process used in the oil and petroleum industries for demulsifying water-in-oil emulsions. In this study, the dynamic behavior of water droplet trains in sunflower oil under the coupling effect of non-uniform electric and laminar flow fields was experimentally investigated. The results showed that the coalescence efficiency decreased with increasing particle concentrations, and the coupling of non-uniform electric and flow fields could facilitate phase separation.

A continuous phase with better performance for photographing the dynamic behavior of droplets in oil: Poly (methylhydrosiloxane)

Yuling Lv et al.

Summary: The study found that high viscosity affects the dynamic behavior of water droplets, resulting in reduced velocity and acceleration, delayed acceleration time, and decreased critical electric field strength. Additionally, there is no phenomenon of coalescence followed by injection in low viscosity oil, and high-speed camera experiments confirmed the high transmittance of poly (methylhydrosiloxane) and the settling characteristics of droplets in it.
