Isolation and characterization of diazoolefins

Paul Varava et al.

Summary: Diazoolefins are highly reactive compounds that rapidly lose dinitrogen, and are observed to form in reactions of N-heterocyclic olefins with nitrous oxide. They display resonance stabilization, strong ylidic character, and good thermal stability, despite the presence of terminal N-2 groups. Diazoolefins can bind metal complexes without liberating dinitrogen and are strong electron donors, while also undergoing reactions involving the N-2 group.

Rhodium and Palladium Complexes of N-Heterocyclic Olefin (NHO) Ligand Fused with the 9,10-Dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene Framework

Shin Ando et al.

Summary: A new type of saturated N-heterocyclic olefin was synthesized and its rhodium and palladium complexes were obtained. Studies revealed that the metal complexes of the saturated NHO exhibited isomerization in solution. Computational studies emphasized the importance of the N-substituent for the planarity of the NHO and its metal complexes.

Cationic tungsten imido alkylidene N-heterocyclic carbene complexes for stereospecific ring-opening metathesis polymerization of norbornene derivatives

Janis V. Musso et al.

Summary: The stereospecific ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of DMMNBE was successfully achieved using cationic tungsten imido alkylidene N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes as initiators, showing high trans-isospecifity of up to 95%. Tuning the steric demand of the ligands of the metal complexes allowed for a change in stereoselectivity in the reaction.
