Photoirradiation and small organic molecule triggering of caged hormones allows precise control and manipulation of biological processes. Synthesis of caged trans-zeatin substituted with nitrobenzene carbonates as photoremovable protecting groups and trans-cyclooctene as the tetrazine-responsive motif enables targeted perturbation of biological processes, including degradation, glucosylation, and enzyme recognition.
Photoirradiation and small organic molecule triggering of appropriately designed caged hormones enable the control and manipulation of the corresponding biological processes with high spatial and temporal resolution. Caged trans-zeatin substituted with nitrobenzene carbonates as photoremovable protecting groups and trans-cyclooctene as the tetrazine-responsive motif have been synthesized. A smooth release of the trapped transzeatin molecule has been achieved, permitting targeted perturbation of biological processes, including degradation, glucosylation, and recognition by appropriate enzymes.
