Enantioselectivity Tunable Gold-Catalyzed Intermolecular [3+2] Cycloaddition of N-Allenamides with Nitrones

Bing Xu et al.

Summary: A highly enantioselective gold-catalyzed intermolecular [3 + 2] cycloaddition of N-allenamides with nitrones was achieved using Ming-Phos M6 as a chiral ligand. The employment of either diastereomer of the chiral ligand resulted in the formation of the cycloadducts with opposite configuration in high yields and selectivity. The acidic N-H bond and pentaflurophenyl substituent of Ming-Phos may contribute to the enhancement of enantioselectivity.

Rh(iii)-Catalyzed C-H bond activation/annulation reactions of arylacyl ammonium salts with 4-diazoisochroman-3-imines and 4-diazoisoquinolin-3-ones

Muhammad Suleman et al.

Summary: In this article, we present a C-H bond functionalization strategy for the synthesis of oxo- and aza-spirocyclic compounds using diazo compounds as coupling partners. The method involves the ortho sp(2) C-H bond activation of arylacyl ammonium salts, followed by coupling with two types of cyclic diazo compounds. The reaction proceeds through the formation of dual metal carbene intermediates, resulting in the formation of novel spiro[indene-1,4'-isochromane]-3,3'(2H)-diones and spiro[indene-1,4'-isoquinoline]-3,3'(2H)-diones in good to excellent yields. The method is notable for its readily available starting materials, broad substrate scope, and operationally simple and mild reaction conditions.

Annulation of phosphole sulfides via [3+2] cycloaddition with nitrones

Yueshan Hou et al.

Summary: In this study, the [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction between phosphole sulfides and nitrones was reported to afford phospholene fused isoxazolidine skeleton with high yields and excellent regioselectivity. The oxygen atom exclusively attaches to the beta carbon atom of the phosphole, and the C=C bond in the product does not react with the nitrone. This work demonstrates that slightly antiaromatic phosphole sulfides can act as 2 pi-electron components in cycloaddition reactions.
