Extracardiac findings with increased perfusion during clinical O-15-H2O PET/CT myocardial perfusion imaging: A case series

Mads Ryo Jochumsen et al.

Summary: The study examined extracardiac coincidental findings with increased perfusion using O-15-H2O PET MPI and found various malignant and benign conditions. It recommends evaluating the summed O-15-H2O PET images along with low-dose CT attenuation images.

Advances in PET/CT Technology: An Update

Nicolas Aide et al.

Summary: This article reviews the current evolution and future directions in PET/CT technology, focusing on time of flight, image reconstruction, and data-driven gating. Advances in point spread function modeling, Bayesian penalised likelihood reconstruction, and artificial intelligence approaches in image reconstruction are discussed. Data-driven gating is examined in relation to respiratory motion, cardiac motion, and head motion. The benefits of these technological advancements in routine practice and potential future developments are detailed. Clinical cases are presented to demonstrate the opportunities provided by PET technology for lesion detection, disease characterization, accurate quantification, and faster scans. Hospitals are encouraged to adopt and evaluate new PET technologies for the improvement of patient care.

18F-flurpiridaz positron emission tomography segmental and territory myocardial blood flow metrics: incremental value beyond perfusion for coronary artery disease categorization

Rene R. Sevag Packard et al.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility and diagnostic performance of segmental F-18-flurpiridaz myocardial blood flow (MBF) measurement, finding that segmental flow metrics had higher diagnostic performance compared to territory metrics, with SMBF showing the most significant improvement in moderate coronary artery disease (CAD) when combined with relative perfusion quantitation (PQ).

Rubidium Uptake in Chest Tumors on PET/CT

Jorge D. Oldan et al.

Summary: The study aimed to describe the findings of rubidium (Rb) in incidentally discovered extracardiac tumors on cardiac scans. Results showed that uptake was stable between rest and stress but lower than FDG PET/CT; there was a correlation between estrogen receptor positivity and Rb uptake in breast tumors; background tissues showed a stable pattern of uptake.

Assessing myocardial perfusion in suspected coronary artery disease: rationale and design of the second phase 3, open-label multi-center study of flurpiridaz (F-18) injection for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging

Jamieson M. Bourque et al.

Summary: This is the second phase 3 study of F-18 Flurpiridaz PET MPI in diagnosing CAD, aiming to evaluate its diagnostic efficacy in suspected CAD patients and compare it with Tc-99m-labeled SPECT MPI. The trial design differs from the first phase 3 trial by excluding known CAD patients and requiring both SPECT and PET MPI to be performed before ICA. This study will provide additional evidence on the diagnostic efficacy of F-18 Flurpiridaz PET MPI in detecting significant CAD.
