Asymmetrical zinc(II) phthalocyanines conjugated to metal tungstate nanoparticles for photoinactivation of Staphylococcus aureus

Sithi Mgidlana et al.

Summary: This study reports on the photodynamic antimicrobial chemotherapy of asymmetrical zinc(II) phthalocyanines and their conjugates with nanoparticles. The conjugates showed greater antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus than the phthalocyanines alone.

Photocatalytic desulfurization of dibenzothiophene using asymmetrical zinc (II) phthalocyanines conjugated to silver-magnetic nanoparticles

Sithi Mgidlana et al.

Summary: In this study, asymmetric zinc phthalocyanines were synthesized and covalently linked to nanoparticles, resulting in higher singlet oxygen quantum yield and enhanced photocatalytic properties. The conjugates of zinc phthalocyanines with silver-magnetic nanoparticles showed increased catalytic activity towards dibenzothiophene transformation, as confirmed by fiber fabrication and phototransformation experiments.

Photocatalytic desulfurization of dibenzothiophene using methoxy substituted asymmetrical zinc(II) phthalocyanines conjugated to metal tungstate nanomaterials

Sithi Mgidlana et al.

Summary: The synthesis of three asymmetrical zinc(II) phthalocyanines with different acid units was reported, with complex 1, 2, and 3 containing benzoic acid, phenylpropanoic acid, and phenylacetic acid, respectively. Covalently linking the complexes to nickel tungstate and bismuth tungstate resulted in different abilities to generate singlet oxygen. The conjugates with nanomaterials showed enhanced degradation of dibenzothiophene in fuel compared to phthalocyanines alone.

Asymmetrical zinc(II) phthalocyanines cobalt tungstate nanomaterial conjugates for photodegradation of methylene blue

Sithi Mgidlana et al.

Summary: This study presented the syntheses of three asymmetrical zinc(II) phthalocyanine (ZnPc) complexes and the hydrothermal synthesis of cobalt tungstate nanoparticles. It was found that covalently linking ZnPc derivatives to cobalt tungstate nanoparticles increased the triplet quantum yield and singlet oxygen quantum yield. Additionally, the nanoconjugates showed higher photocatalytic efficiency for the degradation of methylene blue compared to the ZnPc complexes.

Environmental fate of tetracycline antibiotics: degradation pathway mechanisms, challenges, and perspectives

Ahmad Fiaz et al.

Summary: Tetracycline pollution poses a growing global threat to aquatic and terrestrial biodiversity due to its unprecedented use in aquaculture, livestock, and human disease prevention. Although there is significant research data on tetracycline, there is a lack of a report compiling recent literature data for better analysis by policymakers, including detection techniques, degradation mechanisms, degradation products, and policy statements.
