Synthesis and characterization of new Schiff-bases as Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) inhibitors

The tested derivatives demonstrated low toxicity and no cytotoxic effects on mammalian cells.

The results support the ET-PT mechanism for DPPH free radical scavenging, consistent with experimental findings.

Results showed that thiosemicarbazides exhibited moderate antimicrobial response, and it was dependent on the type and position of substituents on the phenyl ring. Molecular docking simulations suggested that the synthesized compounds may exert antibacterial activity through inhibition of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV pathways.

Molecular docking studies reveal effective docking of the complex in the major groove of DNA, and the DNA cleavage is concentration dependent and sensitive to ionic strength.

The results showed that HL2 and HL3 exhibited higher antitumor and antibacterial activities compared to HL1.
