pH-Dependent mitigation of aluminum toxicity in pea (Pisum sativum) roots by boron

Gen Yang et al.

Summary: Boron supply can mitigate the inhibition of root elongation induced by aluminum toxicity, and this alleviation effect is closely related to pH. Two concurrent mechanisms, namely, enhancing rhizosphere pH under strong acidic stress and stabilizing cell wall by cross-linking with RGII at relatively higher pH, explain the effect of boron in alleviating aluminum toxicity.
