Transcriptome analysis provides new insights into cold adaptation of corsac fox (Vulpes Corsac)

Xiufeng Yang et al.

Summary: This study used RNA-Seq to analyze the genetic genes related to low-temperature adaptation in corsac fox. It identified LRP11 as a key gene related to the low-temperature response and found several positively selected genes related to DNA damage repair, innate immunity, and the respiratory chain. The analysis also suggested that gene flow or convergent evolution may be important factors in promoting regional differentiation of foxes.

Human Aquaporins: Functional Diversity and Potential Roles in Infectious and Non-infectious Diseases

Abul Kalam Azad et al.

Summary: AQPs are integral membrane proteins involved in transmembrane diffusion of water and small solutes bidirectionally. They are functionally diverse and associated with a wide range of non-infectious diseases, while their role in infectious diseases remains to be fully evaluated. Studies suggest that AQPs can be regulated by microbial and parasitic infections, indicating their involvement in microbial pathogenesis, inflammation-related responses, and cell water homeostasis.

Expression, regulation and function of Aquaporin-3 in colonic epithelial cells

Jonathan Yde et al.

Summary: AQP3 is a water, glycerol and H2O2 transporting channel expressed in colonic epithelia. Although altered in several intestinal disorders, the regulation and specific roles of AQP3 remain to be fully defined. This mini-review summarizes the current understanding of AQP3 protein in colonic epithelia concerning intestinal absorption, secretion and barrier function.
