One-Step Reverse Osmosis Based on Riverbank Filtration for Future Drinking Water Purification

Yujia Zhai et al.

Summary: The presence of emerging pollutants in the aquatic environment poses challenges for drinking water treatment plants. This article introduces the concept of one-step reverse osmosis (OSRO) which combines riverbank filtration (RBF) with reverse osmosis (RO) for efficient removal of pollutants. The OSRO concept provides a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for drinking water treatment.

Selective removal of heavy metals from saline water by nanofiltration

Junfeng Zheng et al.

Summary: Polyethylenimine (PEI) cross-linked P84 nanofiltration membranes with high positive charge and hydrophilic surface were successfully fabricated through a stirring cross-linking method. These membranes showed excellent separation performance in removing and concentrating heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions, especially in highly saline water environments.

Characterization of the transformation of natural organic matter and disinfection byproducts after chlorination, ultraviolet irradiation and ultraviolet irradiation/chlorination treatment

Zhi-Min Song et al.

Summary: This study utilized high resolution mass spectrometry to investigate the impact of UV irradiation, chlorination, and UV/chlorination on NOM transformation and DBP formation. It was found that chlorination and UV/chlorination had a greater influence on NOM molecular composition compared to UV irradiation, and UV/chlorination formed more saturated DBPs than chlorination.
