IPV and Health Consequences Among CPS-Involved Caregivers: A Fixed Effects Analysis Stratified by Race and Ethnicity

Mirvat Termos et al.

Summary: The study explores the longitudinal trends of IPV outcomes reported by minority women involved with CPS using data from NSCAW II. Findings suggest the relationship between IPV and mental/physical health outcomes varies based on race/ethnicity, prompting the need for further research on the impact of IPV severity to facilitate race-specific interventions for women involved with CPS.

Deriving household composition using population-scale electronic health record data-A reproducible methodology

Rhodri D. Johnson et al.

Summary: This study developed a reproducible methodology for household composition measures using linked administrative data in the SAIL Databank. By defining households, household size, and composition based on adult-to-child relationships and age differences between residents, the study successfully described household composition for 3.1 million individuals within 1.2 million households in Wales. By improving residential anonymised linkage field methods in the SAIL Databank, this study created longitudinal, household-level composition measures at a population-level, providing important insights into individuals' home environments and their impact on health and wellbeing.

Experience of child welfare services and long-term adult mental health outcomes: a scoping review

Sarah McKenna et al.

Summary: This article provides a comprehensive review of the association between receipt of child welfare services and adult mental health outcomes, finding an increased risk of adult mental ill-health among those who received child welfare services. However, results on potential moderating factors such as gender and care-related experiences were mixed. There is a need for more detailed studies to understand the impact of child welfare services on adult mental health outcomes.

Summary: Children exposed to intimate partner violence are at increased risk for health problems, including special health care needs and behavioral health issues. A study comparing mothers seeking services for IPV in shelter- versus community-based settings found higher prevalence of health conditions among IPV-exposed children compared to population norms. Both residential and community settings showed no significant differences in child health conditions or needs, highlighting the importance of addressing child health and household safety during moments of seeking help for IPV.
