Multifunctional Textiles Enabled by Simultaneous Interaction with Infrared and Microwave Electromagnetic Waves

Jie Wang et al.

Summary: A multifunctional textile has been developed to achieve infrared camouflage, electromagnetic interference shielding, and personal warming. The textile is coated with inorganic-organic polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)/Ag/PTFE (IO-PAP) building blocks, which provide a smooth and durable silver layer to overcome the shortcomings of conventional textiles. The IO-PAP-coated textile shows ultra-low infrared emissivity, high microwave reflectance, and satisfactory mechanical robustness for effective camouflage and shielding.

Sustainable and cost-effective functionalization of textile surfaces with Ag-doped TiO2/polysiloxane hybrid nanocomposite for UV protection, antibacterial and self-cleaning properties

Mohammad Mamunur Rashid et al.

Summary: In this study, TiO2 was incorporated into cotton fabric using an in situ sol-gel/hydrothermal approach, with the addition of SiQAC and AgNO3 for improved antibacterial, UV protection, and self-cleaning properties. Characterization techniques confirmed the successful application of TiO2, Ag, and SiQAC on the fabric surface. The newly developed TiO2 + SiQAC + Ag nanocomposite exhibited excellent performance, maintaining its antibacterial, UV protection, and self-cleaning properties even after repeated washings.

In-Situ Functionalization of Cotton Fabric by TiO2: The Influence of Application Routes

Mohammad Mamunur Rashid et al.

Summary: In this study, TiO2 was applied to cotton textiles using low-temperature application methods at different concentrations. Various characterization techniques were used to evaluate the treated samples, showing that 2% and 4% TIIP concentrations applied at low temperatures had the best performance in terms of UV protection and photocatalytic activity.
