Low bandgap carbon nitride nanoparticles incorporated in titania nanotube arrays by in situ electrophoretic anodization for photocatalytic CO2 reduction

Kazi M. Alam et al.

Summary: We developed an in situ electrophoretic anodization process to create a binary semiconductor heterojunction photocatalyst with green-emitting, water-soluble carbon nitride (CN) nanoparticles embedded in TiO2 nanotube (TNT) arrays. The hybrid material showed superior performance in sunlight driven photocatalytic CO2 reduction, and the CO yield was more than three times higher compared to the standalone TNT photocatalyst. The improved performance was attributed to the formation of a high-quality interface between TiO2 and CN, which facilitated efficient charge carrier separation.

Nitrogen-doped mixed-phase TiO2 with controllable phase junction as superior visible-light photocatalyst for selective oxidation of cyclohexane

Guang Xu et al.

Summary: Nitrogen-doped anatase/rutile mixed-phase TiO2 photocatalysts with carbonaceous species were successfully fabricated using pyrolyzing and nitrogen doping, showing excellent photocatalytic performance. The optimized ratio of the catalyst exhibited significantly higher production yield compared to other samples, attributed to the enhanced visible-light absorption, effective separation of electron-hole pairs, and unique functions of carbonaceous species and porous structure.
