Identifying facile material descriptors for Charpy impact toughness in low-alloy steel via machine learning

Yimian Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, CIT prediction models for low-alloy steel were developed using machine learning algorithms, based on collected CIT data. Three feature construction strategies were proposed and compared. The results showed that the strategy combining alloy composition, heat treatment parameters, and physical features performed the best.

Tribological properties of high-entropy alloys: A review

Zhuo Cheng et al.

Summary: Tribology, the study of friction, wear, and lubrication, is crucial for understanding the service performance of structural materials. High-entropy alloys (HEAs), with their excellent hardness and wear resistance, show great potential in enhancing the tribological properties. This review provides insights into the tribological behavior of HEAs and strategies for improving their performance, both at room temperature and elevated temperatures.

Hot Deformation and Constitutive Modeling of TC21 Titanium Alloy

Sheng-Xian Yi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the deformation behavior of TC21 titanium alloy using high-temperature tensile tests. It was found that the flow stress of the material gradually decreases with an increased strain rate and increases rapidly with an increase in strain during deformation. The established Arrhenius and Radial Basis Function models accurately describe the high-temperature deformation behavior of the material.

Creep Failure and Damage Mechanism of Inconel 718 Alloy at 800-900 °C

Kai Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the creep behavior and damage mechanisms of 718 alloys at different temperatures. The results showed different creep curves and failure mechanisms of the alloy at different temperatures. The softening and loss of mechanical performance of the alloy were mainly attributed to the coarsening or decrease of strengthening precipitates.

Precipitate coarsening and its effects on the hot deformation behavior of the recently developed γ′-strengthened superalloys

Yuting Wu et al.

Summary: The coarsening behavior of gamma prime precipitates plays a significant role in the properties and hot deformation behavior of gamma'-strengthened superalloys. The particle size is crucial in the morphological evolution of precipitates, with different morphologies observed in different types of superalloys. The coarsening kinetics of precipitates are described using Lifshitz-Slyozof-Wagner (LSW) theory and Trans-Interface Diffusion Controlled (TIDC) theory in the research.

Lattice Misfit Predictions via the Gaussian Process Regression for Ni-Based Single Crystal Superalloys

Yun Zhang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the unique microstructure of Ni-based single crystal superalloys and the lattice misfit between gamma and gamma' phases. By developing a Gaussian process regression model, the researchers are able to predict lattice misfits based on chemical composition, temperature, and two morphological indicators. This model is highly stable, accurate, and promising for fast, robust, and low-cost lattice misfit estimations.
