Construction of PdS@MIL-125-NH2 @ZnS type-II heterostructure with efficient charge separation for boosted photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Zige Tai et al.

Summary: For the first time, a new photocatalyst PdS@NH2-MIL-125(Ti)@ZnS (PdS/M125/ZnS) heterojunction was fabricated for photo-catalytic H2 generation. The optimized photocatalyst displayed a significantly enhanced H2 generation rate compared to pure M125, attributed to the hierarchical structure and the type-II heterojunction formed by M125, ZnS, and PdS co-catalyst. This work provides a new avenue for designing MOFs photocatalysts for energy conversion.

Tunable charge transfer efficiency in HxMoO3@ZnIn2S4 hierarchical direct Z-scheme heterojunction toward efficient visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution

Fangshu Xing et al.

Summary: Hierarchical direct Z-scheme composites of ultrathin ZnIn2S4 nanosheets on HxMoO3 nanobelts exhibit significantly higher H-2-production activity than pristine ZnIn2S4. The high conductivity and tunable charge transfer efficiency of the HxMoO3 component contribute to the effective transport of charge carriers. The hierarchical architecture increases intimate interface for effective separation of electron-hole pairs and exposes more reactive sites.

Ascorbic acid functionalized CdS-ZnO core-shell nanorods with hydrogen spillover for greatly enhanced photocatalytic H2 evolution and outstanding photostability

Guotai Sun et al.

Summary: In this work, CdS-ZnO core-shell nanorods with controlled ZnO shell were synthesized, showing a high photocatalytic H-2 evolution rate attributed to factors such as the single-crystalline structure of CdS, Z-scheme mechanism formed between CdS and ZnO, and the introduced ascorbic acid. The homogeneous ZnO shell grown on the CdS core efficiently suppresses the photo-corrosion of CdS, providing outstanding photostability for CdS/ZnO.
