Tailoring strength and ductility of high-entropy CrMnFeCoNi alloy by adding Al

Xin Xian et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the strengthening of CrMnFeCoNi alloy by adding aluminum. The experimental results show that a phase structure transition from fcc to bcc occurs when a sufficient amount of aluminum is added, leading to an increase in yield strength and hardness. By adjusting the alloy composition, it is possible to achieve high strength and sufficient ductility in high-entropy alloys.

An experimental and modelling study of cyclic tension-compression behavior of AA7075-T6 under electrically-assisted condition

Hongrui Dong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of electric current on material flow behavior and develops corresponding constitutive models through electrically-assisted tension-compression cyclic loading tests. The results show that electric current reduces the flow stress, promotes precipitate growth, and decreases dislocation. Additionally, the elastic modulus decreases with increasing plastic strain, temperature, and current density, while the Bauschinger effect and permanent softening effect weaken. The asymmetric tension-compression behavior becomes more pronounced with increasing temperature and current density. This research provides a research basis for the application of electrically-assisted forming.

Effects of electric current on the plastic deformation behavior of pure copper, iron, and titanium

C. Rudolf et al.

Summary: Uniaxial tension tests were conducted on pure polycrystalline copper, iron, and titanium specimens with varying current levels, showing non-thermal current effects in titanium but not in copper and iron. Potential mechanisms for the observed electrically-assisted deformation (EAD) effects in titanium were suggested, offering new avenues for research in understanding EAD of metals.

Multiscale modeling of coupling mechanisms in electrically assisted deformation of ultrathin sheets: An example on a nickel-based superalloy

Y. Z. Liu et al.

Summary: Electrically assisted (EA) forming offers advantages over room-temperature (RT) forming and thermally assisted forming for fabricating difficult-to-form microscale products. However, predicting material deformation behavior in EA microforming is challenging due to the coupling between electric current and microstructural size effect. Through experimental tests, it was found that the grain size and current density play non-monotonic roles in influencing the behavior of superalloy sheets. The proposed multiscale constitutive model effectively describes the EA deformation behavior and can predict the drawing force of thin-walled superalloy capillaries.
