Flow and heat over a rotating disk subject to a uniform horizontal magnetic field

Mustafa Turkyilmazoglu

Summary: This study investigates the application of a horizontal uniform magnetic field in stabilizing the flow field and its effects on the energy equation. With the help of traditional von Karman similarity transformations, a similarity system of equations is derived, and the development of velocity and temperature fields under the magnetic field is numerically investigated. The existence of exact series solutions using decaying exponential functions is discussed, and the critical roles of the horizontal magnetic field on physical quantities are highlighted.

Entropy optimized radiative heat transfer of hybrid nanofluid over vertical moving rotating disk with partial slip

Sanjay Kumar et al.

Summary: Hybrid nanofluids have novel characteristics that benefit various industrial applications. This study examines the entropy optimized Cu-TiO2/water flow over a vertically moving rotating disk, considering thermal radiation, partial slip, and the Dufour and Soret effects. The analysis reveals contrasting impacts of vertical disk movement and rotation on velocity, concentration, and temperature profiles. The findings can be utilized in engineering applications to improve efficiency.

Numerical simulation of heat and mass transfer in magnetic nanofluid flow by a rotating disk with variable fluid properties

K. Sharma et al.

Summary: The study of fluid flow over a rotating disk is of great significance in various industries and scientific fields. This investigation focuses on the ferrohydrodynamic flow of magnetic nanofluid caused by a rotating disk, taking into account temperature-dependent thermal conductivity and geothermal viscosity. The rotation of the disk is found to significantly enhance the radial movement of flow, while other parameters such as variable viscosity, magnetic field parameter, and Reynolds number also have an impact on the flow. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the heat transfer phenomenon and fill a gap in the existing literature.
